St John Youth
Youth Leaders 18 – 25
Youth Leaders play an important role in your St John group or division by assisting in the planning and running of the youth program. Youth Leaders will get involved with developing annual training plans, managing the team and delivering training sessions and fun activities. They will also get involved in providing support to the group/divisions members and parents, assist in the administrative running of the division plus ensuring that the group/division is functioning well.
Youth Leaders have the opportunities to participate in training specific to their role though completing recognised training. Being a Youth Leader is also a great springboard for becoming an Officer or Manager of a group/division, not to mention giving you skills for life!

Safety
Protecting the rights and wellbeing of children
Protecting the rights and wellbeing of children and vulnerable people is very important in St John and we are committed to safeguarding children and vulnerable people from harm. As a parent or guardian, you will naturally have concerns about the care of your child when they attend activities outside of the home.
This is why St John has developed strong standards and guidelines for adult members who engage with children and vulnerable people in our organisation.
National Child and Vulnerable Persons’ Safety Rules, Standards and Guidelines
All adult Leaders of Youth Divisions in St John will undergo specific training to help prepare them for the role. This includes training in leadership and management and annual child safety training.
Our Child and Vulnerable Persons’ Safety Awareness Training involves St John Leaders learning about recognising of signs of abuse/neglect in children and vulnerable people, what to do/how to act if a child or vulnerable person discloses abuse and procedures for reporting abuse in their State/Territory. In addition, all adults working with children and vulnerable people are screened in line with State/Territory legislative requirements and the organisation’s Child and Vulnerable Persons’ Safety Rules, Standards and Guidelines.
The National Child and Vulnerable Persons’ Safety Rules, Standards and Guidelines can be viewed by clicking here.
