NatCamp 2024, hosted by St John NT and St John SA, held in Alice Springs in early August, was an experience filled with fun, friendship, valuable experiences and of course some healthy competition! As always, NatCamp brought together St John Youth members from all parts of our beautiful country, including teams from SA, NT, Victoria, Tasmania, NSW and NT and Youth representation from WA and the Australian Office.
Held in the heart of Australia, the camp was more than just an adventure in the Outback. It was a chance for young members to meet other St John youth/cadets, share their experiences, and create lasting memories. The camp was packed with activities that encouraged teamwork, leadership, and the development of essential life skills. We rode camels, relished in the beauty of Stanley Chasm, learned about the local indigenous communities and their family structure, we dined under the stars and much, much more. Alice Springs offered an experience that no other place can offer.
Competitions Day was a huge day. All youth members did a great job and demonstrated the exceptional skills that St John Youth and Cadets have! Competitions involves not just clinical skills, but leadership skills and communication. The NT Team were crowned the National Champions and the team from Victoria were granted the Spirit of St John Award.
One of the most valuable aspects of the camp was the opportunity for youth members to meet and interact with fellow St John members from across Australia. The friendships formed during this time were a highlight for many, as they connected with others who share their passion for service, first aid and their commitment to making a difference.
Congratulations and thank you to our Camp Organisers, Melissa Crompton and Geoff Degenhardt. Thank you for your huge commitment to making this a success and providing the young people of St John with a life experience they wont forget.
